The Minden

Framed Builders championed this tricky terrain and, rising to the occasion, delivered a home that maximises its elevation and celebrates the natural surroundings.

The Minden is Tauranga’s slice of magic, a semi-rural escape set against a subtropical backdrop, offering a sweeping panorama from city to sea. Perched on its ridgeline is the recent collaboration between Framed Builders and ATA (formerly Adam Taylor Architects.

A mix of Cedar and Ironsand Colorsteel cladding forms the outer shell to blend in with the surrounding environment. The façade gives little away, and the tunnel-like entrance only heightens the home’s secluded appeal.

The interior showcases a well-executed collaboration and mutual respect between architect, designer and builder. Katherine Mcdonald’s restrained textural interior highlights Framed Builders’ exceptional craftsmanship, most noticeable in the cedar panelled walls.

Sleek and streamlined timber veneer cabinetry performs a “now you see it, now you don’t’ illusion, completely concealing an entire wall.

Expansive windows and floor to ceiling stacking sliders create seamless integration between interior and exterior living spaces. The importance of outdoor entertaining wasn’t overlooked, and the stunning views are enjoyed year-round on proportionate Kwila decking thanks to the overhead Louvretec.
